As my little nuclear family unit bundled back up to head back into the chilly chaos of Black Friday in Kansas City, Isaac Alongi chatted with us. He said he figured he had a window of about three minutes to find the moment worth capturing. Anything more, and everyone’s just wasting time. Babies get fussy, children get bored, adults have places to be.
We were living proof: We’d come in only 15 minutes earlier, and the actual photography took about seven minutes. And the shots he came up with? Glorious.

This man is a genius, a true talent. He captures expressions and feeling in his photos that are so charming and often fleeting. His prices reflect that — wedding packages especially, starting (STARTING!!) at $10,000. But if you have the money to spare and want to see yourself in photos looking better, happier, healthier and…like you never imagined? Goodness, he is the obvious choice.

In the last week, we have all watched images of the devastation that has taken place in Haiti. This year I have some really cool holiday card ideas, each card is totally custom designed around every clients portrait. Cards are only $2 each with portrait orders over $1000.

I have been playing around with my senior portrait photography trying to shoot more stuff that I think of as “out of the box”…. more random ideas… so I thought this one turned out kind of interesting….

Here are some clips for a really cool airplane promo video I am working on. ?The aircraft is an “Experimental” but its really fast and fun to fly. ?About 220 MPH, and G limits are +6 and ?- 4.

This year I am offering a fun new product in addition to our framed portraits, Canvas Wraps.  We just print the photos on canvas on our large format printers then stretch it over a wooden stretcher frame.  Its great for clients looking for something new or a little different from the framed / torn fine art paper that I have been doing for awhile.   The Canvas Wrap portraits look great in color and in black and white!

I had the privileged of photographing the real Patch Adams during an interview I was filming today in Washington DC for Producer David Naster for a new documentary film we are working on about laughing through tough times.

Today I got the chance to do a really fun fashion shoot in black and white for some magazine advertisments.  We figured out how hard it is to pose for a 60’s look.

Last night we drove from Kansas City to Nashville through a huge 4 hour lightning storm. I thought it would be cool if somehow I could get a picture of the amazing light show so I put my camera on the dash of the car and shot time lapse photos constantly for about 2 hours, when I looked back through them today there were some really amazing shots…

I have been using the available natural light for the most part at our new south studio in overland park at 148th and Metcalf, the colors are so soft and beautiful on this little girls face, some how natural light adds a life and warmth to portraits…

I photographed this baby with a light blue background to match her eyes,  it really makes them pop!!

Well, I am still getting over it. I cry every time I watch that amazing slideshow. We finished shooting our TV show with Mark Gungor, it should be on the air starting sometime in August, He has now been picked up by 11 different networks. ?I will be adding some video to my films pages with clips from the show etc as soon as the opening graphics are finished. My wife sandra and I produced the show from start to finish, I started all of the set design and building about a month before the filming. We rented all of the HD camera and live production gear from Cashmark Media, they did a fantastic job getting us up and running in a timely manner!

Check out our latest exhibit at the Dean & Deluca at town center plaza in Leawood, KS. This month we featured a botanical collection printed on canvas. The images will be on display during the month of May.

I got up at the crack of dawn this morning and rented a helicopter so I could fly all over New York City and take photos, its something I have always wanted to do and man was it amazing!!  Photos and videos to soon follow….

There are so many great locations in Kansas City to take senior portraits, we just shot some great stuff at Hi Hat Coffee in Westwood Kansas and then at a few spots around the Country Club Plaza.  Senior portrait sessions should be really fun, we take our time and do a lot of different outfits and locations.

How to get great senior portraits in Kansas City.

Lighting is really important when looking for great places to shoot, I only use direct sunlight when its backlighting the subject, Soft directional light is great on the face, it really makes the eyes look bright and alive.  Another great way to make the eyes pop is to choose clothing that matches the subjects eyes.

We just finished shooting a new tv show on the fantastic red one camera.  the tv show is based in Kansas City and has the talented Andy Garrison leading the cast. The show is directed by Ty Jones and Director of Photography Isaac Alongi.
